Welding of rail – Part 2: Flash butt

This industry standard specifies requirements for the qualification of welds in steel rails for the following:
a) fixed plant flash butt welding process; and
b) mobile flash butt welding process.

This standard was developed with the objectives to provide understanding on the requirements for rail track welding which covers:
a) the requirements for flash butt welding;
b) the requirements for welding personnel; and
c) the requirements to enhance the quality and suitability of rail welding.
