The principal aim of periodic inspection and resting is that at the completion of the test, the cylinders can be reintroduced into service for a further period of time. It is not possible to identify all considerations for periodic inspection and testing of composite cylinders in this standard to such cases or where there is doubt, questions regarding specific cylinders should be directed to the manufacturer or owner.
This standard is intended to be used under a variety of national regulatory regimes but has been written so that it is suitable for the application of the construction based on EVO 1 standard.
This standard specifies the requirements for periodic inspection and testing and to verify the integrity for further service of hoop-wrapped and fully wrapped composite transportable gas cylinders, with non-metallic liners construction (Type 4), intended for compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases under pressure, of water capacity from 0.5 L up to 150 L.
This standard is written to address the periodic inspection and testing of composite cylinders constructed to EVO 1 standard and can be applied to other composite cylinders designed to comparable standards when authorised by the competent authority.
As far as practicable, this standard also can be applied to cylinders of less than 0.5 L water capacity.

The term ‘lean’ means creating more value for interested parties with less resources. A lean organisation understands interested parties needs and focuses its key processes to continuously increase its value. The ultimate goal is to provide ideal value to interested parties through a holistic value creation process that has zero waste which ultimately will lead to cost efficiency. As a result of this, lean organisations will be able to create a long-term, mutually-beneficial relationship with interested parties and enhance the ability of both parties to create values and gain competitive advantage.
Lean management can be implemented in any type of organisation regardless of whether they are product manufacturers or service providers. Within an organisation, lean management can also be implemented across various functions of the organisation.
Lean management can be linked with Industry 4.0 (i4.0) which involves combining the principles of lean management with the technological advancements to enhance and automate processes. The successful integration of lean and i4.0 requires a strategic approach, a culture of collaboration, and a commitment to both continuous improvement and technological advancement.
Lean management and ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) are interconnected through their shared values of efficiency, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. Organisations that embrace lean principles may find it easier to integrate ESG considerations into their operations and demonstrate their commitment to responsible business practices.
This standard intends to provide an easy reference to organisations to implement lean management by carrying out the key activities.
This standard specifies the requirements for key activities in lean management implementation. This standard also specifies the required maturity levels for these activities.
Any organisation can use this standard to gauge its level of implementation or maturity (which describes how much of lean related activities that the organisation has implemented) and make necessary improvements based on the requirements provided to achieve the intended target of implementation.
